Member's Plots 2009

We thought that you may like to see some of our member's plots as of 1st August 2009. As you can see, everyone has been working hard. We have all been impressed with the results of our efforts. Broad Bean crops were excellent, Early Potato crops have been good (but the wet summer weather has caused problems. French & Runner bean crops are developing nicely...and everyone's onions are great. There has also been an excellent Brassica crop (Cauliflower, Cabbage & Swede). Sweetcorn crops are also beginning to ripen nicely. When we compare our site now compared to 6-months earlier, we have achieved a considerable amount in such a short time and are very proud of our achievements.

Plot 11...Carla's Plot

Plot 11 is one of our half-plots measuring approximately 10metres x 10metres. Carla maintains her plot single-handedly (Apart from occasional assistance from her husband & son) She does a terrific job with weed control & general plot mainenance...you would be proud to have this plot as a front garden..."not a weed in sight".

Plot 1...Darren & Joy's Plot

This is the first of the full size plots measuring approximately 20metres x 10metres. Darren is our group's Chairperson and has contributed a huge amount of time and effort to making the allotments possible. Both Darren & Joy are keen allotmenteers and take pride in their well-stocked & productive plot. (Don't ask Darren for help with building Runner bean frames!)

Plot 6...Pat & John's Plot.

Again, this is one of the full plots. There is always something new going on at plot 6...this is a perfect example of an extremely well stocked area and is arguably one of the most productive plots on the allotment field. Pat & John actively encourage their Grandson to take part in their allotmenteering.

Plot 4...Tina & Neil's Plot

Here is a section of plot 4. Tina puts in the majority of the hard work (Neil helps when he feels guilty).Tina has been a key figure in obtaining the allotment field and the initial forming of our group. Neil lounges around at home & maintains our website! The plot is currently providing 80-85% of seasonal vegetables for a family of five. What a lovely crop of onions!

Member's Plots 2010

The start of the 2010 growing season brought with it a flush of new members...with new ideas...and a loads of enthusiasm. All newcomers were accommodated with suitable plots and to date, everyone has been working hard to prepare for the new season.

Below are a few pictures showing some of our new members progress on their plots. (April 2010)

Trevor & Rita's Plot (Plot 5a) + James's Plot (Plot5)

Trevor and Rita joined us at the end of March 2010...they currently share half of plot 5 with James. Trevor has opted for Raised borders to avoid any water logging during the winter period. He has also helped with drainage at the bottom end of the allotment field.

Chris & Liz's Plot (Plot 14)

Another couple who joined us at the start of April 2010. As you can see from the picture...there is quite a lot of construction underway!...raised borders, fruit cages, compost bins etc.

Liz's Plot (Plot 12a)

Liz joined us just before Christmas 2009...and tends to her plot with assistance from her children...She has also opted for some raised borders and has a lot "going-on" on her small plot.

David & Ray (Plot 2)

You can just make out David and Ray's plot in the background...they joined us back in early winter 2009...and are very keen indeed. This is another plot with lots going-on.
