Before We Introduce Ourselves...

Here's a few words of encouragement from Hugh Fernley Whittinstall...a major figure in the rapidly increasing UK "grow your own" lifestlye.

Who we are

Thank you for visiting our website...we hope you find it interesting.

Our group was formed back in January-February 2009...after several members had been searching for suitable land in the area. With support from local councillors and the comittee members of our Parish Hall, we were offered a field adjacent to the Tennis Courts in Dudleston Heath. We currently have 12 allotment plots...two of which are half-plots. We have an on site water supply and are hoping to provide a communal shed/prefab building in the near future.

The group is run strictly as a non-profit organisation and funds are colleted from our members as and when we need to purchase items...it seems to work very well and every member is keen to contribute in terms of money and time. We are all very proud of our achievement...in just a few months a grassed field has been partially drained, a water supply added and 12 working plots have been created and are currently producing some beautiful produce.

We all possess differing levels of horticultural experience...and generally speaking the more experienced members are usually very keen to advise or assist the "beginners". (If they require help)

Families with children are very welcome...sorry dogs are not.

How to locate us

The allotment site is particularly easy to find...we are located on the B5068 Ellesmere (North Shropshire) to St Martins Road. Dudleston Heath is situated aproximately half way between Ellesmere (North Shropshire) & St Martins. Whichever direction you enter the village, just lookout for the "Parish Pump"/Parish Hall (photo below) Drive into the main car park... and we're through the gate with the "No Dogs" sign. (Next to the recycling bins) and to the left of the Tennis Courts.
